If you are a Skype user, you might have made virtual face-to-face conversations with your far-living loved ones on a mobile phone or PC. But, if you are lucky enough to have a Hisense TV, you can make Skype calls on the big screen hereafter if you follow my guidance in this article.
First of all, I’d like to clarify that the Skype app doesn’t support Hisense TV. What we are going to do is screen mirror the Skype app/website from mobile phones & PC. So, all your hearty conversations can be relished on the Hisense TV instead of restricting them to compact screens. The upcoming headings will provide you with all the information regarding the process in a clear-cut way.
What Should Be Done?
- If you are going to mirror Skype from an Android mobile/Windows PC, turn on the Screen Mirroring option on Hisense TV.
- If you are using Skype on a Mac, iPhone, or iPad, enable the AirPlay option on Hisense TV.
- Set up the Skype app on your mobile [Play Store | App Store] or Skype for Web on your PC by logging into your Skype account and enabling all the necessary permissions.
- Connect your Hisense TV to a Wi-Fi network. Then, link the device from which you will screen mirror the Skype app to the same network.
Screen Mirroring Skype Calls to Hisense TV
In the following headings, I elaborate on how to screen mirror the Skype app from mobile phones and the Skype website from PC, respectively. Before stepping into this process, make sure you have completed the prerequisites mentioned in the previous headings.
Screen Mirror Skype Calls From a Mobile Phone
- Open the Skype app you have installed on your mobile phone and make sure you are already signed into your account.
- Then, turn on the Cast or the Screen mirroring option on your respective mobile phone.
- Android Mobile: Swipe down from the top and get the Notification panel. Long press the Cast option and launch it. Turn on the option to start looking for devices.
- iPhone/iPad: Go to the Control Center and tap the Screen Mirroring icon once to get the devices list.
- Select your Hisense TV from the available devices and establish a connection.
- Now, make or attend an incoming video call on your mobile and continue doing it as usual. The ongoing video call can be watched on the Hisense TV screen.
Screen Mirror Skype Calls From Computer
- Open the Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome web browser on your Windows PC (Windows 10/higher) or Mac (OSX10.12 or higher version).
- Head to the Skype for Web page and log in to your account.
- Then, set up the required options on your PC to screen mirror the Skype web version to Hisense TV.
- Windows PC: Press the Windows + K keyboard shortcut and open the Cast pop-up.
- Mac: Go to the Menu bar and open the Control Center. Then, enable the Screen Mirroring option.
- In the next step, once you select the Hisense TV name, your PC screen will be duplicated on the Hisense TV.
- You can now video chat on Skype from your PC and use your Hisense TV as a display for it.
Alternate Method to Try
This method is like a hit or miss. The APK file of the Skype app is available on various sources on the internet. You can try installing that APK file on Hisense Android, Google, or Fire OS TVs, and you might be able to access Skype directly if you are lucky. To do so,
- Buy a USB webcam with microphone support for your Hisense TV from Amazon.
- Connect it to your TV’s USB port and power it up.
- Then, install the Downloader app from the respective app store. Enable permission for Downloader to sideload apps on your Hisense TV from Settings.
- Now, launch the Downloader app and enter the Skype APK URL. Click Go to download the APK file.
- Select the downloaded file and tap Install to finish the Skype app installation on Hisense TV.
- Finally, launch the app and, if possible, access it for video calling by following the on-screen instructions. You will mostly be asked to pair your Skype mobile app, which will work like a remote for the Skype Hisense TV app.
FAQ
Skype-to-Skype calls are absolutely free to make and attend on your device and to screen mirror the same to your Hisense TV.
Check whether your Hisense TV and participating devices are linked to the same WIFI network while trying to screen mirror Skype calls. Also, check if sufficient data is available to make video calls. If these factors are okay, update the Skype app on your device. Then, restart your Hisense TV & participating device once and try the process again.
