A few days back, I addressed the problem of Error Code 003 on Hisense TV and provided the best solutions to sort it out. I hope it was useful for users who were facing it. Similarly, Error Code 016 will sometimes be displayed for Hisense Roku TV users, especially when they try to access streaming apps. Hisense Error Code 016 means the TV does not have an internet connection.
Whenever you get this error, navigate to Settings on Hisense TV and open Network → Set up connection & Wireless options. If a connection is not actually established, select a network from the list of available networks and enter its password to connect your Hisense TV to WIFI. After providing an internet connection to your TV, refresh the app that displayed the error code. You can expect it to load content by now.
If you still have Error Code 016 appearing, then there are more factors to check regarding this issue. So, scroll down to the upcoming section without delay.
Other Reasons for Hisense Error Code 016 & Respective Solutions
- Wrong WIFI Credentials
- Momentary Issues on Router & Hisense TV
- Problems In the Particular Network
- Improper Device Connectivity
- App Failure
- Cache Accumulation in DNS
- Problems with Roku Servers
- Wireless Connection Failure
The analysis of how the factors mentioned above influence Error Code 016 on Hisense TV and solutions to rectify them is provided in the following headings.
Wrong WIFI Credentials
Sometimes, you might have changed the password of your WIFI network and forget to update it on your Hisense TV. There are also chances for you to enter a completely wrong password or make some typographical errors while entering your WIFI passcode. In such a scenario, your Hisense TV’s internet supply is cut down, and you’ll have Error Code 016 on any app you try to use.
Solution: Enter the Correct WIFI Password
Note down the exact WIFI network password in the first place, with the upper & lowercase changes as well. Then, get into your Hisense TV’s Network Settings and hover to the Wireless section.
From the networks list that appears, see whether your respective WIFI network is in Connected status. If not, then hover and select it. In the enabled on-screen keyboard, enter the latest password using the remote navigation keys. Be accurate when entering upper/lowercase letters and numbers. You can ease it up by typing your WIFI network password using the virtual keyboard on the paired Hisense TV remote app.
After password entry, cross-check whether the password is right and click on the Connect option. If everything is perfect, your Hisense Roku TV will be online, and you can proceed to content streaming through apps.
Suppose that if the error code 016 persists, move to the following troubleshooting method.
Momentary Issues on Router & Hisense TV
Your WIFI router occasionally experiences some problems for indefinable reasons. Due to this, it won’t deliver the internet to the TV sufficiently or completely. Likewise, your Hisense Roku TV can’t receive internet supply and stream apps properly due to glitches and bug activity. But luckily, such issues are temporary and only last for a short time.
Solutions: Power Cycle the Router & Hisense TV
Power Cycle Router:
Head near the power socket to which you have connected your WIFI router. Disconnect the router’s power cord from the socket. After 2-5 minutes, make the connection again. Thus, the WIFI router is power cycled successfully, and it won’t be problematic hereafter. You can now try to connect your Hisense TV to the router’s network, and access desired apps without getting Error Code 016.
Power Cycle Hisense TV:
If power cycling the router didn’t help, then try the same on your Hisense TV. It is also a very simple and similar process. Turn off your Hisense TV and its connected socket’s switch. Then, disconnect the power cord of the TV from the socket and keep it untouched for 5 minutes. This will flush out the problematic factors hindering the Hisense Roku from connecting to the WIFI network. Later, you can make the connection again and turn on the Hisense TV. Establish a WIFI connection and get rid of the Hisense Error Code 016.
Problems In the Particular Network
Sometimes, a specific network you are trying to connect your Hisense TV to will be problematic or not optimally functioning. If that’s the case, then basic troubleshooting won’t help you out. You should jump into a detailed analysis of the network and fix the specific issues so that you won’t have the annoying Error Code 016 indication.
Solutions: Check Router Distance, Connection Limit, Internet Subscription, Try Alternate Network
Check Router Distance:
First of all, inspect the placement of your WIFI router. If it is placed far away from the Hisense TV or in another room, you should immediately change the arrangement. Bring the router to the place where the TV is kept and place it within 5 feet range. There should not be any huge objects or electronics in between the router and Hisense TV because they’ll interrupt the signal path. Also, the router should be placed in a higher space so that it can receive signals easily and provide faster internet.
Examine WIFI Connection Limit:
Most of the users like you fail to think about this possibility. Every WIFI network has its own connection limit set. If devices of the specified numbers are already linked to it, then your Hisense TV cannot join the network, no matter how many times you try. So, check your surroundings and find which devices are linked to your desired network. Among them, disconnect an unwanted device and fill out the free slot with your Hisense TV. After the WIFI connection, proceed to the apps list of your Hisense TV and access any app you like.
Check Internet Subscription:
If everything about the WIFI network is good until now, and yet you have Error Code 016 appearing on your Hisense Roku TV apps, then check whether your internet plan is valid. If it is expired, then there hasn’t been active internet on your TV so far. So, recharge for a necessary internet plan offered by your internet provider. Later on, once the internet is back, the error code will automatically go away.
Connect to Alternate Network:
If your Hisense TV is still not getting online even if the network satisfies all the conditions mentioned above, then there are serious issues with the network. In such cases, switching to an alternate network is good. To do so, select the System → Advanced system settings options from Settings. Click on Network connection reset and forget the current network on Hisense TV. Then, you can go back to Network Settings and get linked to a new network, which might turn the tables in your favor.
App Failure
Don’t stick to the idea that the internet connection is solely responsible for the appearance of Error Code 016 on your Hisense TV apps. Maybe the problem is with the app you are trying to access. Before diving deeper into network troubleshooting, check the normalcy of the streaming app as well. Having too many apps running at the same time will also hinder internet distribution. So, keep an eye on that too.
Solutions: Close Background Apps, Update & Reinstall Problematic App
Close Background Apps:
On the Home page itself, the apps that have been recently accessed and are currently working will be displayed on the apps grid (section on the right side). Hover to the tile of wanted apps and click the Asterisk (*) button on the remote control. Select the Close option and exit them one by one. When this background app congestion is rectified, there is a chance that the required app will function well without showing error code 016.
Update App:
You know very well that if an app is not updated, it will bring up different kinds of issues. Maybe the problematic app is not receiving internet access because it is outdated, and its current version has become invalid on your Hisense TV. So, open the other apps and see if they also show an error code 016. If not, then you should update the app on your Hisense TV to bring it back to normal.
After highlighting the required app in the apps grid, press your remote’s Asterisk (*) button and choose Check for updates. If an update is available, it will be installed.
Reinstall App:
If the problematic app is already up-to-date, then it should be corrupted. You can uninstall the app on your Hisense TV and reinstall it so that it can function optimally. Open the Options pop-up of the particular app and select the Remove app option to delete it. Then, go to the Roku Channel Store and search for the deleted app. Select the Add Channel/+Add App option to reinstall the app on Hisense TV. This latest installed app will work well for sure. It is better to opt for streaming on other apps if there are a lot of troubles.
Cache Accumulation in DNS
If your router fails to deliver despite every necessary condition for operating being satisfied, then the DNS cache should be full. Deleting it will restore the internet connection on the TV and help get away from Error Code 016 on apps.
Solution: Delete Router’s DNS Cache
Open a browser on your PC or mobile phone. Type and search the IP address of the Hisense TV and load the router interface. After logging in to your respective account, find the Reboot or Restart option and select it. Otherwise, flush the glut DNS cache of the network using command lines on your Mac or Windows PC.
- Windows: Go to Start → type cmd → right-click Command Prompt → click Run as Administrator → type ipconfig/flushdns → press Enter.
- Mac: Click Command + Space → load Spotlight → search Terminal → press Enter & open program → type command [sudo dscacheutil – flushcache; sudo killal – HUP].
You’ll probably be out of error code 106 if the DNS cache was mischievous till now.
Problems with Roku Servers
This is a rare yet possible factor for Hisense Error Code 106. When there is no problem with the network and Hisense TV, then the Roku servers may be busy or have some maintenance issues. If so, then streaming any application is impossible. Trying any troubleshooting methods will also be in vain.
Solution: Check Roku Server Status
Open a browser on your PC or smartphone and visit the Downdetector website. Search Roku and inspect the server status. If the website shows the status as down or notifies you about any maintenance, then you have no other option than waiting. Roku authorities will rectify server issues, if any, quickly, and you can get back to app access as soon as possible.
Wireless Connection Failure
If all the above troubleshooting methods fail to save you from the Hisense Error Code 016 issue, then there is some sort of problem with the wireless network connectivity of your Hisense TV.
Solution: Switch to a Wired Connection
You can provide an internet connection to the TV through an ethernet cable to have uninterrupted streaming of apps without Error Code 106. So, get an ethernet cable from the Amazon website or nearby store and unwrap it. Connect both ends to the ethernet port of Hisense TV and WIFI router. Now, your Hisense TV will receive an internet supply. If you don’t see the error code on any apps in this wired connection, then wireless connectivity has failed.
To repair the problem with the wireless connection, contact Hisense TV customer support and ask for their help. Until then, stick to the corded internet connection. You can also try the vice-versa connection method, which may work for you.
Best Practices to Prevent Hisense Error Code 016
- Pay attention while entering the WIFI password to prevent mistakes.
- Avoid distancing the WIFI router and Hisense TV from each other. Avoid keeping the router in the corner of the room or in a congested space.
- Track the device connection limit and internet plan validity as well.
- Restart your router once a week to ensure it performs without errors.
- Always keep the TV apps in their updated version.
